Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran Guru Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) dalam membentuk karakter Islami siswa di lingkungan sekolah. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada emakin kompleksnya tantangan pendidikan karakter di era globalisasi dan digitalisasi yang ditandai dengan menurunnya kualitas moral, kedisiplinan, dan penghayatan nilai-nilai keagamaan pada sebagian peserta didik. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus untuk memperoleh pemahaman yang mendalam mengenai peran guru PAI dalam proses pembentukan karakter Islami siswa. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan teknik reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru PAI memiliki peran strategis sebagai pendidik, pembimbing, teladan, motivator, dan fasilitator dalam menanamkan nilai-nilai Islam kepada siswa. Pembentukan karakter Islami dilakukan melalui keteladanan, pembiasaan kegiatan religius, integrasi nilai-nilai Islam dalam pembelajaran, serta penguatan budaya religius di sekolah. Penelitian juga menemukan bahwa keberhasilan pembentukan karakter Islami dipengaruhi oleh dukungan lingkungan sekolah, keterlibatan orang tua, dan kondisi sosial siswa. Di sisi lain, tantangan yang dihadapi meliputi pengaruh media sosial, lingkungan pergaulan, dan keterbatasan sinergi antara sekolah dan keluarga. Temuan penelitian menegaskan bahwa pembentukan karakter Islami merupakan proses yang bersifat holistik dan membutuhkan kolaborasi berbagai pihak. Oleh karena itu, penguatan peran guru PAI serta kerja sama antara sekolah, keluarga, dan masyarakat menjadi faktor penting dalam mewujudkan generasi yang berakhlak mulia, religius, dan mampu menghadapi tantangan perkembangan zaman.
