Abstract

The development of digital technology has drastically transformed the world of work and demands that workers acquire new skills to remain competitive. Indonesia, as part of the Industry 4.0 era, faces significant challenges in the form of the loss of old jobs and the emergence of new jobs requiring digital skills. This study examines reskilling and upskilling strategies as solutions to address this skills gap through a comprehensive literature review. The results demonstrate the importance of integrating technical training and soft skills development, as well as the need for flexible, personalized training programs oriented to the needs of the digital industry. The disparity in access to training between urban and rural areas is a particular concern in the Indonesian context. Therefore, multi-stakeholder collaboration between the government, industry, and educational institutions is essential to create a sustainable learning ecosystem. In conclusion, adaptive and inclusive reskilling and upskilling are crucial to foster the career development of the Indonesian workforce in the digital era and maximize the potential of the demographic dividend.
