Abstract

An employee's work engagement is essential for the advancement of an agency. Engaged employees are typically characterized by three aspects: vigor, dedication, and absorption. Many engaged employees achieve optimal performance. Several previous studies indicate that career development is one factor that can trigger employee work engagement. The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of career development on employee work engagement with government agreements (PPPK) in Bima City. The method used in this study is a quantitative method with online data collection using a questionnaire distributed to 265 participants. The measuring instrument used is the Career Development scale proposed by Li et al., (2014) with two aspects measured: career development value (VCD) and career development opportunities with a total of 18 items, and the work engagement scale proposed by Schaufeli & Bakker (2006) with three aspects measured: vigor, dedication, and absorption with a total of 17 items. The analysis technique used is the Simple Linear Regression Test and the coefficient of determination. The analysis results explain that the sig value of 0.000 means that there is a significant influence between career development and work engagement. This is reinforced by the R Square value of 0.325, meaning that there is an influence of career development of 32.5% on work engagement, and other factors influence 67.5%. This career development can be a big step for companies to improve their resources.
