Keywords:

This study examines the role of competency standards in career development for security personnel (Satpam) at
Pertamina East Natuna. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the research explores how technical and non-
technical competencies influence career readiness and performance. Data collection was conducted through in-depth
interviews with managers, security supervisors, and senior Satpam. The findings reveal that while technical skills
such as security procedures and technology usage are critical, non-technical skills like communication and conflict
management are equally important. However, gaps in training programs and the relevance of current competency
standards to the energy sector's unique challenges were identified. Recommendations include revising training
modules, adopting digital learning tools, and implementing structured performance evaluations to align competency
development with organizational goals
