Abstract

The importance of competence in supporting work effectiveness, especially in government organizations that face limited human resources and complex work challenges. This study aims to analyze the effect of competence on employee work effectiveness at Department X. The research method used is quantitative. Data were collected through a Likert scale- based questionnaire that measures competencies adapted from Wibowo (2016) with aspects of flexibility, motivation to seek information, learning ability, achievement motivation, work motivation under time pressure, willingness to cooperate, and orientation to customer service and work effectiveness refers to Denison's theory with aspects: involvement, consistency, adaptation, and organizational mission, with research subjects all employees of Department X (N = 30). Data analysis used a simple linear regression test. The results of the regression analysis showed that competence had a significant effect on work effectiveness, with an R Square value of 80.8%. This finding indicates that competence is a major factor in increasing work effectiveness, which includes knowledge, skills, and work attitudes. However, the results of the study also showed variations in the level of competence between individuals that have the potential to affect overall work effectiveness. This study recommends the development of routine training programs to improve employee competence and the provision of adequate work facilities
